otori is a four-piece band with a truly unique style that incorporates no-wave, hardcore-punk, krautrock and noise. They made their first appearance in Canada during NMFT 7 in 2015 highlighted by a legendary performance in Toronto at the now defunct Soybomb. Frontwoman Kobara Sae is shy and introverted offstage but onstage she steals the show equivocating between spoken word in an ultra-cool swagger vs outbursts of ferocious screaming.
At the end of 2016, original bassist Miyata quit the band and OWARIKARA’S Tsuda became his replacement. Tsuda’s prodigious bass playing has improved otori's technical prowess by challenging the other members to step up. The newest songs are even more experimental, progressive and 'mathy.'
otori is truly like no other band on the planet. They killed it on tour the last time they came to Canada and are psyched to show Canadians the new and improved otori.
